Patriots shutout Eagles in doubleheader sweep

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots outscored Fort Dale 18-0 in their double header on Tuesday evening. The Patriots won game one 11-0 before completing the sweep with a 7-0 win in game two.
Dannah Dawson went all five innings in the pitching circle in game one. Dawson allowed just one hit and struck out five.
Maggie Phelps, Ansley Adams and Dawson all had two hits, while Grace Rushing, Aubreigh Maulden, Avery Henderson, Ally Rushing and Maddie Johnson all had one hit.
The Patriots entered the bottom of the third leading 1-0. They ultimately put the game away when they scored 10 total runs in the third and fourth innings.
In the Patriots’ six-run third, they had an RBI double by Adams and RBI singles by Dawson and Henderson.
In the four-run fourth, Dawson and and Adams both had RBI singles.
Ally Rushing got the start in game two and pitched five innings while giving up two hits and striking out seven batters.
Morgan Bundy finished 3-3 at the plate with three runs scored. Grace Rushing Maulden, Henderson and Johnson all had two hits.
The Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Bundy scored the game’s first run on an error. Maggie Phelps hit a sacrifice fly and Maulden singled in Grace Rushing.
After a scoring a run in the second and third innings, the Patriots scored two final runs in the fourth. Grace Rushing and Maulden both picked up RBI singles in the inning.
