Sarah Ann Whaley

Sarah Ann Whaley, 90, a resident of Troy, died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Dr. David “Doc” Kirby officiating.

Sarah Ann Whaley was born August 24, 1928, in Troy to the late Frank and Margret (Gellerstedt) Whaley.  She passed away peacefully in her home Sunday July 28, 2019.   Ms. Whaley graduated with honors from the University of Montevallo with a Bachelor of Music. She held membership in Pi Kappa Lambda and Student in American Universities and Colleges. She taught piano at Troy University for many years. Her greatest joy was memorizing poetry, reading the Bible and following the Lord’s commands. She was a beloved member of the Troy community for many years. Her ability to play from memory the many hymns and songs that were requested for various events in the community is legendary. She was a true Southern Lady who will be missed by many.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Joe Watson, Dr. Mickey DiChiara, Herbie Haisten, Dr. Marvin Blumentritt, Joe Faulk, Allen Jones, Dennis Sanford, Scherr Qualls, Alex Whaley, Frank Williams Jr., her loving caregivers, Tenise Owens, Anna Arrington, Tracey Davis, Jeff Bentley, Melissa Lee, Angie Morgan, and Jeff Kervin.
