Post 70 loses heartbreaker in round one of Regionals

American Legion Post 70 lost the opening round game of the American Legion Regional Tournament in Tampa, Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
Post 70 went into the eighth inning tied with the Pedal Valves Cardinals. Post 70 surrendered an eighth inning run and fell to Cardinals 5-4.
Grayson Stewart got the start and pitched seven innings. He allowed four runs on seven hits. He struck out four batters.
Post 70 broke the ice first with a run in the top of the first inning. Joey Wozniak reached on a two-out walk and came around to score on a double by Coleman Wright.
Post 70 doubled their lead to 2-0 two innings later. Bryce Peavy doubled on a line drive to left to drive in JC Ceman.
The Cardinals answered with two runs in the bottom of the third inning to quickly tie the game.
The teams traded runs in both the fifth and seventh innings. Wozniak scored on a dropped third strike in the fifth and Reed Jinright scored on an error in the seventh to bring the score to 4-3. The Cardinals tied the game with a run in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. The Cardinals had their leadoff batter reach on a single and he came around to score the winning run three batters later on a sharp single to right.
Post 70 finished with seven hits by Reed Jinright, Ceman, Wozniak, Wright, Peavy, Carson Fain and Wood Jinright.
