The Troy American Rookies lost a heartbreaker of a game on Wednesday, ending their bid for a district championship.

Coach Britt Newman said the Dixie Minor Rookies team fell 8-7 to Enteprise in the elimination game.

“It was a tough loss,” he said. “They came a long way in two weeks, especially for me not knowing any of them before we started.”

The team was 1-1 going into Wednesday’s game, having defeated the Troy Nationals 12-10 on Monday.

“We were tied 3-3 going into the sixth inning,” Newman said. “We gave up a few errors and a few runs,a nd they came up 8-3.”

Troy managed to score four runs, but stranded runners on second and third.

“It was hard, especially considering how hard these kids have played,” Newman said.

The team includes DanQuavious Adair, Khristian Andrews, Brody Cain, Ean Childs, Caleb Gamble, Braxton Golden, Graham Hamlin, Javaris McNair, Bendarius Myhand, Cody Paramore and Corey Rotton.
