McBryde transfers to SMU

Former Charles Henderson standout and Auburn linebacker Richard McBryde has reportedly transferred to Southern Methodist University in Texas.
After spending the last four seasons at Auburn, the graduate’s name is currently on the Mustang roster.
McBryde spent four seasons on the Plains with the Tigers. He played in 23 overall games in 2016-2017 and accumulated 14 total solo tackles and assisted in another one. Of his 15 tackles, two of them were for a loss.
McBryde saw his first meaningful action in 2017 when he was a backup Sam linebacker for the Tigers. He recorded four tackles against Missouri and two more against ULM. He also had two tackles in the SEC championship
The Troy native was a top recruit out of the state of Alabama in the class of 2015. McBryde recorded 147 tackles, seven sacks for the Trojans. 247 Sports listed McBryde among the top-five prospects in Alabama. He played in the Under Armour All-America Game as well as the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.
McBryde is a graduate transfer and will be eligible to play immediately for the Mustangs.
