After two consecutive home games, the Pike County Bulldogs hit the road today to take on the Wicksburg Panthers in Newton.
The Bulldogs are off to a flying start to their 2019 season. After falling in their jamboree to rival Charles Henderson, the Bulldogs have started the season 3-0, picking up wins against Alabama Christian, Houston Academy and Geneva.
Last Friday night, the Bulldogs won a tight 14-7 contest against Geneva. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second half, but needed a late defensive stand to hold on to the win, their 13th straight region win.
There were a total of four turnovers last Friday, three of which came from the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents in their first three games 102-20. They will travel to take on a Wicksburg team that has started the season 1-2. They are coming off a 21-0 loss on the road against Providence Christian last week. They began the season with a 58-41 loss to Daleville before they defeated Slocomb in week two 21-7.
The Bulldogs and Panthers have met five times and the Bulldogs have won all five meetings including last year’s game 33-29 in Brundidge.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
