The “Audrey Sheppard Williams Story” at the We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge on Saturday, October 12 is sold out.
However, Cathie Steed, ticket chair, said due to the continuing request for tickets, the sponsoring Brundidge Historical Society is opening a designated number of tickets for the 2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, recording of the performance of the “Audrey Sheppard Williams Story” to the public.
Tickets for the recording at the We Piddle Around Theater are $10 and may be purchased by calling 334-685-5524 prior to 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 9.
Dolores Hydock, who wrote and performs “The Audrey Sheppard Williams Story,” which is a BHS Alabama bicentennial event, has agreed to a recording of the performance for archival purposes and also for the family of Audrey Sheppard who grew up in the Shiloh community.
She walked away from the red clay fields of Pike County and became half of one of the most famous couples in country music history when she married country music legend Hank Williams.
“Audrey Sheppard Williams’ life, like her story, is a controversial one,” Hydock said. “Are there really two sides to every story, even hers? Can the two sides be opposite and still both be true? This new story lets you decided.”
“The premier performance of “The Audrey Williams Story” was at the We Piddle Around Theater in February and played to two sold out audiences,” Steed said. “Dolores has performed the story of Audrey Sheppard Williams across the state and it has been extremely well received. We are appreciative that she was able to work another performance into her schedule and also the recording of this Alabama bicentennial event.”
