Trojans knock off riva Pike County

The Charles Henderson Trojans used a strong third quarter to knock off cross county rival Pike County 49-42 on Tuesday evening in Troy.
Trailing 24-21 at the half, the Trojans began the second half outscoring the Bulldogs 16-5 in the third quarter and they entered the fourth holding a 37-29 lead.
Keith Wheeler and Tay Knox each scored four fourth quarter points and the Trojans held off the Bulldogs by seven points.
Wheeler was the Trojans’ loan scorer to finish in double figures. He finished with 14 points. Devin Parker finished with nine points, while Zach Henderson had seven. Darryl Lee finished with six points.
Five different Bulldog players got on the scoreboard compared to eight Trojans. Andres Burney led all scorers with 15 points, while Amaghie Lampley finished with 12 points. ZaKevin Pennington finished with seven points.
The Trojans are scheduled to make a return trip to play Auburn, while the Pike County Bulldogs will host the Barbour County Jaguars in the home opener on Saturday evening.
