All-State teams announced

The Alabama Sports Writers Association announced the 2019 All-State Football Teams over the weekend and the local teams are well-represented.
Charles Henderson, Pike County, Ariton and Pike Liberal Arts are all represented on an All-State Team.
Charles Henderson finished off the 2019 season with a 4-6 record and advanced to the first round of the state playoffs. Defensive back Tryelle Jones was named Second-Team All-State.
The Pike County Bulldogs finished region play undefeated for the second consecutive season in 2019.
Running back Rayshawn Reynolds earned first team honors, while linebacker Hernando Wheeler was named to the second team.
The Ariton Purple Cats advanced to the postseason for the fifth consecutive season. For the second-consecutive season, the Purple Cats advanced to the third round of the state playoffs.
Blake Carroll was named Second Team All-State as an athlete. Offensive lineman Chase Hughes was named as an honorable mention.
The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots had three players named All-State, highlighted by kicker Scott Taylor Renfroe, who was named first team All-State. Davis Allen and Nick O’Brien were each named honorable mention.
