The Charles Henderson varsity boys basketball team didn’t get much of a holiday break this season. Playing some of their best basketball of the season, the Trojans will start play in the Hilton Sandestin Beach Blowout.
The Trojans will be one of 16 teams to make the trek to Freeport, Florida. The teams will come from all over the southeast to compete in the five-day event.
“We’re going to Freeport and we’ll see teams from Georgia and Tennessee,” Head coach Doug Branson said. “Kentucky will be down there with Alabama schools and Florida schools. There is no telling who we are going to run into down there.”
The Trojans will be joined by teams from the state of Alabama including White Plains, Bayside, Sand Rock, Oneonta, Montgomery Catholic and Helena.
Freeport and Winter Park will represent Florida, while Brookwood Academy will represent Georgia. Wayne County and Rowan County will represent Kentucky, while Dickson, Cookeville and William Blount will come from Tennessee.
The Trojans will match up with Brookwood Academy (GA.) in round one. The game will be the seventh game of the day and it will tipoff at approximately 6 p.m.
They will play the winner of Rowan County and White Plains on Saturday beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m.
All the games will take place at Freeport High School. A tournament champion as well as a consolation champion will be crowned on Tuesday.
