Trojans return to Trojan Arena to take on first place Little Rock

The Troy men’s basketball team returns home after a three-game road trip to take on Little Rock on Thursday evening at Trojan Arena in Troy.

After falling to both Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana to begin the road trip, the Trojans knocked off Texas State in San Marcos for the first time ever on Monday evening.

The win for the Trojans gave them a 6-10 overall record and they are now 2-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.

The Trojans had four players finish in double figures in their win, led by Ty Gordon who finished with 16 points. Darian Adams finished with 15, while Desmond Williams had 13. Zay Williams had 12.

Gordon’s 16 points vaulted his season average to 11.2 points per game, just behind the team leader, Adams, who is averaging 13.1 points per game. The Trojans have three players average double figures. Joining Adams and Gordon is Zay Williams, who is averaging 11.1 points per game.

The Trojans come into the game averaging 70 points per game, good enough for ninth most in the conference, more than Appalachian State, Arkansas State and ULM.

The Trojan defense also allows 70 points per game, good enough for seventh best.

Little Rock comes into the game 11-5 overall and sits in first place in the SBC with a 5-0 record.

Little Rock knocked off Georgia Southern on Monday 79-73. Little Rock is currently enjoying a six-game winning streak. Little Rock’s Markquis Nowell is averaging 18.8 points per game, second most in the Sun Belt Conference behind only Nijal Pearson of Texas State. Little Rock has four players averaging double figures. Joining Nowell is Ben Coupet Jr. (12.6), Ruot Monyyong (11.9) and Kamani Johnson (10.7).

Little Rock as a team averages a little more on offense, averaging 70.4. On defense they are allowing 67.3.

The two teams met twice last season with the Trojans falling twice to Little Rock. They lost at home to Little Rock 84-70.

The Trojans are 4-3 inside Trojan Arena this season. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ESPN+.
