Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Beloved mother and aunt, Blendina K. Phillips, 92, fell asleep in the Lord, at her home, Friday, January 17, 2020, of natural causes. Born Blendina Lavern Koonce in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on February 17, 1927, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Austin Phillips, Banks; her sister, Irene K. Smith, Morton, Mississippi; and her brother, James S. Koonce, Huntsville.

She is survived by her only daughter, Sarah Estelle Phillips, Ormylia, Greece; three nieces Carolyn Wade, Estelle Watts and LeAnna Koonce; and one nephew, Leonard Smith.

We will never know all the sacrifices she made to keep her family happy and healthy but she was truly among the elite fighters of the Lord’s Army. She always suffered in silence, never wanting to impose on others while accepting the consequences of her struggles with a smile. She is now wrapped in the warm and loving arms of our Lord. May her memory be eternal.

A special acknowledgment and thank you goes to the Trueman Milton family as long-time friends, business partners and caregivers. With their devoted help, Blendina was able to taste the warmth of belonging and enjoy the independent life that she so dearly cherished.
