Eagles take on ZC

The Goshen Eagles took on area foe Zion Chapel on Tuesday night in Goshen.
The Goshen Lady Eagles competed hard, but fell to Zion Chapel 31-25 on Tuesday night in Goshen. The varsity boys closed out the evening with a 56-45 loss to the Rebels.
The second quarter was the difference for the Eagles. They were outscored 9-0 and went into halftime trailing 15-9. The Eagles shrunk their deficit after outscoring the Rebels 7-4 in the third and went into the fourth trailing 19-16. The Eagles scored nine fourth quarter points, but came away six points shy.
Ajayden Rogers led the way scoring 14 points. Kaleigh Burden added six points, while Ashunte Freeman, Ella Baker and Emily Roughton all had two points.
The Eagle boys outscored the Rebels 20-19 in the fourth quarter, but were 11 points short of evening things up with their area foe.
The Eagles went into the second quarter trailing by one at 9-8. In the second quarter, the Eagles were outscored by the Rebels 14-4 and went into the locker room at halftime trailing 23-12.
Makel Avery and Deshawne Brown each scored four in the third quarter and the Eagles went into the fourth trailing 37-25.
Stephen Meeks scored six points in what was 20-point fourth quarter for the Eagles.
Dee Maddox led the way for the Eagles with 12 points, while Avery finished with 10 points. Tre Dix, Brown and Meeks all finished with six points. Jordan Sampson had two points.
The Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they host Samson.
