Not many people know what it’s like to lose it all.

But all of Pike County is invited to at least hear a glimpse of that message.

“My message is from 11/19/07. I’m going to be sharing how I’ve been able to walk through it and am currently walking through it,” said Siran Stacy, former Alabama football player, All-SEC performer and NFL running back.

Stacy, who lost his wife and four of his five children in a tragic car accident when a drunk driver struck his vehicle in November 2007, will speak that message to those gathered at Sartain Hall Thursday at 6 p.m.

After the life-changing event, the NFL star dealt with depression, anger and shaken faith, but now, he travels speaking to audiences across the country.

While Stacy said his message is never the same anywhere he goes, he will address resurrection from the tragedy he has faced.

“It’s never the same when I go from one speaking engagement to another,” Stacy said. “My message is about tragedy and allowing Christ to resurrect me from the dead, which all of us can apply to our lives.”

The event, sponsored by the Pike County Young Professionals, is free to the public.

“Young professionals is a group that wants to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work,” said PCYP Chairman Ben Bradley. “Stacy’s message shows how faith can bring someone out of the darkest moments of their life and use it to make a positive impact on the world around them.”

Through this message, Bradley said he hopes local residents will have their own life changing discoveries.

“We hope that the people in and around Pike County will be inspired to be better citizens and make a difference in their world,” Bradley said.

The PCYP are joined by First National Bank and Troy University to present this Pike County Chamber of Commerce event.

“The chamber is excited to be backing this group of individuals who are really the next generation of leadership in our community,” said Chamber President Jenniffer Barner. “The vision of this group in obvious by the mere fact they chose to bring Siran Stacy to Pike County as their first public event. This is not an easy task, but they are stepping up and making it happen to our community at no charge.”

While the event is free, general admission tickets must be picked up in advance. They can be found at any Pike County financial institution, The Messenger, Troy Cable or the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.
