Area tournaments set and ready to go

The high school basketball season is nearing its conclusion, and with area play now finished, the tournaments are coming into form.
All the local teams will participate in the upcoming area tournaments and three of them will host their area tournaments.
The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans finished the area portion of their schedule undefeated and secured first place in Class 5A Area 3. Greenville, Carroll and Rehobeth followed them in the standings. The Trojans’ first-round opponent will be Rehobeth on Monday beginning at 7 p.m.
The Charles Henderson boy’s basketball team finished second in Area 3 with an area record of 4-2. They finished behind Greenville, who finished 6-0. The Trojans will open up against Carroll on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. in Greenville.
The Goshen Eagles finished in a tie for first place in Area 4 with Zion Chapel. The Eagles won the coin flip and will host the tournament. They will open the tournament against Samson on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m.
The Lady Eagles finished in third place in Area 4. They will take on Zion Chapel on Monday beginning at 7 p.m.
The Zion Chapel boys will take on New Brockton on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Pike County boys basketball team finished area play 6-0 and will host the Class 3A Area 4 tournament. They will host the tournament and open up against Wicksburg on Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Pike County girls finished in a tie for first place, but lost a coin flip to Providence Christian earlier this week. With a second place finish, the Bulldogs will take on Houston Academy on Monday beginning at 6 p.m.
The top two finishers in each area tournament are guaranteed a spot in the sub-regional tournament.
The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots took care of business in their area and will receive a bye in the upcoming state tournament. The Patriot boys have a chance to do the same on Thursday when they travel to take on Macon-East.
