The Troy women’s basketball team hosts Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday evening at Trojan Arena.
Ranked No. 16 in the Mid-Major Poll, the Trojans are in the midst of a five game winning streak and are 17-3 overall and are in first place in the Sun Belt Conference with an 8-1 record.
The Trojans welcome in the Warhawks on Wednesday evening. The two teams met in Monroe earlier this season. The Trojans left with a 72-65 win.
The Trojans knocked off in-state rival South Alabama last Saturday 85-68. The Trojans lead the conference and the nation in total rebounds. The lead the conference in points per game (80) and second in scoring margin at +13.45.
Defensively, the Trojans ranked seventh in scoring defense, but they are holding teams to 35 percent shooting, second lowest in the conference behind Coastal Carolina, who is holding opponents to 34 percent shooting.
The Trojans are ranked 64th in RPI out of 351 teams. They are the only Sun Belt team ranked in the top 100 and are one of just 22 mid-major teams to be ranked in the top 65.
ESPN’s Charlie Creme has Troy as the 13 seed in his latest bracket for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. He has them playing four seeded Iowa.
The Warhawks come into the game last in the league standings with a 1-8 record. They are 3-17 overall.
In Troy’s previous meeting with the Warhawks, Jasmine Robinson finished with a team high 13 points. Amber Rivers finished with 12, while Kate Rodgers and Alexus Dye finished with eight.
