At its Monday meeting, the Pike County Board of Education approved a resolution declaring the week of February 22-19 FFA Week and acknowledge the outstanding performance of the Goshen High School FFA and the student organization’s commitment to agriculture and agribusiness.
Dr. Mark Bazzell, superintendent of Pike County Schools, congratulated the FFA members and their advisors, Jamie Rich and Cody Eiland, on jobs well done.
Rich said the FFA built and delivered picnic tables for the elementary schools at Goshen, Banks and Pike County and has plans for several agricultural awareness and conservation programs in recognition of National FFA Week.
Bazzell expressed concerns about a proposed new calendar for Alabama schools that could mean longer summer vacation and longer school days.
