PCBOE approves personnel changes

The Pike County Board of Education held its April 13, 2020, meeting at Pike County Schools Advanced Academics and Accelerated Learning Center on Mockingbird Lane in Troy. The temporary re-location from the Pike County Board of Education Central Office in downtown Troy was to facilitate social distancing during COVID-19.
Dr. Mark Bazzell Superintendent of Pike County Schools advised the board that the 2020 graduates at Pike County and Goshen high Schools have “cleared and ready to go” for May graduation.
Bazzell said the goal is for all students to be promoted or retained by the end of May.
However, Bazzell said there are several students who don’’t have access to Internet service necessary to complete class requirements. He is working with Troy Cable in an effort to make service available that will make it possible for them to complete the necessary requirements.
The board took care of housekeeping measures and took action on personnel requests.
In personnel action, the board:
• Accepted the superintendent’s recommendation to terminate probationary teacher, effect immediately.A Abby Beard, Approved the request to hire Abby Beard, SPED teacher, Goshen Elementary School, 2020-21 school year.
• Approved the request to hire Tiffani McCulloch, math teacher, Pike County High School, 202-2021 school year.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Stephanie McCall. Psychometrist effect June 2, 2020.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Voncille Flowers, teacher, Banks effect May 23, 2020.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Karen Smith , teacher Banks Effective Mary 23, 2020.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Deborah Sessions, CNP Manager, effective, May 23, 2020.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Helen Siler, CNP worker, effective May 23, 2020.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Teresa Register, teacher, GES, effective May 23, 2020.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Wendy Pittman, teacher GES, effective May 23, 2020.
• Accepted the resignation of Abbey Bowers, teacher, GES, effective May 23, 2020.
Accepted the resignation of Willie Wright, principal of Pike County High School, effective May 1.
