Wondering if, or when, you’ll get the COVID-19 stimulus payment?
An online tracker released Wednesday by the IRS can tell you.
The online link went live at the same time as millions of checks were deposited into bank accounts across the nation. According to the government, as many as 70 million people should receive payments today.
You can check the status of your online payment here; just click through the “Get My Payment” link. Be sure to have 2018 or 2019 tax information handy. You’ll need your Social Security number, birthday and zip code, as well as direct deposit information if it’s not on file with the IRS.
However, the heavy demand has created issues with the tracker. Also, financial institutions have been dealing with delays on mobile and online banking applications due to the heavy demand.
The stimulus provides $1,200 for individuals up to $75,000 and $2,400 for married couples filing jointly earning up to $150,000, as well as $500 per child. Benefits are reduced incrementally for individuals earning up to $99,000 and couples earning up to $198,000, and filers earning above those threshold swill not receive any stimulus.
According to the government, the first round of stimulus payments will go to people with direct deposit information on file with the IRS. The second round is for any Social Security beneficiaries who don’t file taxes. Paper checks will be sent to the remainder of recipients in late April.
