Charles Henderson head baseball coach John Gluschick will not return next season.
The Troy City Schools Board of Education voted Monday not to renew the coach’s contract.
“I don’t know why I was let go,” Gluschick said. “I haven’t had my exit interview yet, which all teachers have to do.”
Gluschick was hired in December 2019 when former head coach Matt Whitton left to go to Enterprise High School.
Gluschick came to Charles Henderson after coaching at Brookwood in Tuscaloosa. Gluschick also had coached at Lowndes Academy, Sweetwater Brewbaker Tech and Montgomery Academy.
In a shortened 2020 baseball season, Gluschick led the Trojans to an overall record of 7-8. The Trojans went 1-2 against Rehobeth in their only area series of the season and the last series they played before the COVID-19 shutdown.
Gluschick is the fourth head coach of the Trojans since longtime head coach Derek Irons left for Oak Mountain after the 2015 season.
The position will be posted for two weeks or until the position is filled, according to principal Lise Fayson.
When asked about the status of the coaching search, Troy City Schools Interim Superintendent Cynthia Thomas declined to comment, stating that it is too early in the process. “We have not made it that far yet as it relates to that position,” Thomas said.
