Thursday night during the Pike Liberal Arts graduation ceremony, Jason Gregory the owner of Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram announced Hannah Helms as the winner of a 2020 Jeep Cherokee for a three-year lease.
“At the end of the year for graduation, we pick out the car, which this year is the Jeep Cherokee,” Gregory said. “We provide a three-year lease for the one graduating senior whose name gets drawn.”
This marks the second year that Premier Chrysler has held a drawing for high school seniors from Pike County city schools to enter for a chance to win a car. For every A the student receives on their report card, they can enter their name one time.
Premier Chrysler pays up front for everything for the three years. “We just think it’s a way to give back to a graduating senior and their family. It’s an incentive for a graduating senior to push a little harder and study a little more to get that A,” Gregory said.
He also believes it is important to help out parents who are thinking about getting a car for their child to go to college.
Last year, the winner was a student from Pike County High School, and this year the winner, Hannah Helms, is from Pike Liberal Arts.
“It was definitely a surprise,” Helms said with a smile. “I just expected to come to graduation with my friends. I was not expecting this.”
Helms has plans to attend Troy University in the fall.
