The 2020 Troy football schedule continued to take shape on Wednesday afternoon when the program announced this homecoming opponent.
The Trojans will continue their streak of hosting a Sun Belt Conference opponent for homecoming when they take on the Georgia State Panthers.
It will mark the second consecutive season they will host a Georgia team for homecoming. They took on Georgia Southern last season and knocked off the Eagles 49-28. The Trojans last played Georgia State on homecoming in 2016, a game they won 31-21.
This season’s game will occur on October 24. It will be the final game of a three-game homestand for the Trojans. They will follow it up with road games against Arkansas State and Georgia Southern.
The Trojans have won their last four homecoming games. In their four-game winning streak the Trojans defeated the Panthers in 2016, Louisiana in 2018 and Georgia Southern in both 2019 and 2017.
The Trojans are 3-0 all-time against Georgia State at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Trojans fell to the Panthers 52-33 last season in Atlanta, but leads the all-time series against Georgia State, 5-2.
kickoff time has yet to be announced for the homecoming game, but there will be an announcement in the upcoming days. The Trojans open the season on September 5 when they host Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
