University, county cases edge up slightly

Troy University reported an additional 17 cases of COVID-19 among students at the Troy campus on Monday.
The update included 10 off campus students, three at Trojan Village; one each at Newman, Rushing, ATO and Phi Mu.
The report brings the total student cases self-reported to 330 since Aug. 3, or about 5 percent of the student body on the Troy campus.
In Pike County, total confirmed cases climbed to 883 and probable cases to 233, with seven deaths, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health 10 a.m. update. The case counts reported by ADPH are for all cases since tracking began, and presumed recoveries are not reported at a county level.
Pike County remains in the “very high risk” category according to the ADPH, based on new cases confirmed in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 126,299 cases have been confirmed with 13,160 probable cases reported. Total deaths are 2,221 with only 790 people currently hospitalized. More than 54,220 individuals are presumed recovered.
