Trojans still searching for first win after falling to Andalusia

The Andalusia Bulldogs scored early and often to take a 45-12 win over Charles Henderson High Friday night in Troy’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Andalusia improved to 2-3 on the season while CHHS slipped to 0-3 following the Class 5A, Region 2 battle.
Andalusia put the first points on the board when quarterback Jacob Wilson tossed a 67-yard touchdown pass to Isiah Brundidge, Gage Theus added the extra point, and it was 7-0 with 7:09 remaining in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs went up 14-0 to open the second quarter, as Wilson hit Chip Morgan for a 14 yard TD strike, Theus kicked, and it was 14-0 with 11:20 to go in the first half.
CHHS got on the board on the next possession when quarterback Cam Foley connects with Da’Quan Brantley for a 73-yard touchdown reception, the extra point was not successful, and it was 14-6 with 10:01 remaining in the first half.
Theus put the Bulldogs up 17-6 when he launched a 38-yard field goal with 3:27 showing on the scoreboard clock. Andalusia widened their lead with 2:04 to go when junior running back Michael Hourel, Jr., fought his way in for a 7 yard TD, and a 24-6 lead with 1:52 before the half.
The Trojans cut the lead to 24-12 on their first possession of the second half when Foley completed another pass to Brantley for a 9-yard touchdown with 9:22 to go in the third quarter.
Andalusia extended their lead to 31-12 as Jamarion Burnett ran it in from the 29, and went up 38-12 when Hourel, Jr., ran right, threw up a stiff arm, reversed his field, and scampered 26 yards for the touchdown. Theus kicked and it was 38-12 with 8:51 to go in the game.
Kendall Sims intercepted a CHHS pass and returned it 30-plus yards for another Andalusia touchdown, Theus was good on the extra point, and the score was 45-12 with 7:20 to go in the fourth, which held to be the final.
CHHS was led in rushing by Zach Coleman with 49 yards on 15 carries, while Foley completed eight of 21 attempts for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Burnett rushed for 120 yards on 17 carries and one TD for Andalusia, Hourel, Jr., gained 68 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns, while Wilson completed 11 of 18 for 148 yards.
Andalusia is at Bibb County next Friday, Sept. 25, while CHHS is at home against Williamson High.
