A child was injured in a shooting incident Monday evening, according to Troy Police.

The child was shot in the abdomen during an incident that took place around  7 p.m. Monday on North Knox Street.

A police statement said the child, whose age was not confirmed, was taken to Troy Regional Medical Center and then transported by air to a Birmingham hospital.

“At last check the victim was in a room at the hospital, but the extent of the injury is not yet know,” the statement said.

Police said the weapon was recovered at the scene “and all parties involved are cooperating with investigators,” according to the statement.

No additional information was available from Troy Police.
