Kimber Manufacturing is transitioning its corporate headquarters from New York to its Troy facility.
The firearms and ammunition manufacturer announced the move late last week, solidifying its relationship with Troy and Pike County and announcing additional jobs at the facility.
“After a carefully planned shift of leadership, R&D and manufacturing resources, Kimber has made substantial progress in the transition to its new, state-of-the-art headquarters in Troy, Alabama,” the company said in a release. “The final step in completing this new facility is adding staff across all departments. Kimber’s new headquarters is situated on 80+ acres with more than 225,000 square-feet of space and is now home to industry-leading design engineering, product management and manufacturing capabilities.”
The news was greeted with enthusiasm by local officials, including Troy Mayor Jason Reeves, who help lead recruitment efforts.
“I am very appreciative of the hard work of the Troy City Council, The Troy Industrial Development Board and the City and EDC team working with the Alabama Department of Commerce, our Legislative delegation, and the Pike County Commission to bring this to fruition,” Reeves said. “There were thousands of hours put into this project and our business friendly community and solid work force made the difference. We look forward to working with Kimber as we have over the last few years in making this the finest firearms manufacturing facility in the world. The success of our existing businesses, of which Kimber is now a member, and our second to none workforce made this possible providing another win for our community and economy.”
Kimber officials said Troy was selected for the expansion because of its proximity to top-tier engineering schools as well as the gun-friendly and business-friendly support from the City of Troy and Alabama officials.
The company said its Alabama expansion is well ahead of schedule, having filled hundreds of its planned Troy-based positions.
“This announcement confirms Kimber’s confidence in our local community. This is validation that our public officials, workforce development efforts and private partnerships have created a business friendly environment.,” said Stephanie Baker, District 4 council member. “Kimber could have chosen from thousands of cities across the nation to move and they chose Troy for a second time. I think that says a lot about our community in terms of our workforce, our hospitality and our quality of life.”
Council president Marcus Paramore echoed those sentiments. “I’m excited to have Kimber announce Troy as their official corporate headquarters and expand their operations. We are glad that Kimber recognizes the value of our people and our workforce.”
Now, Kimber is seeking qualified applicants across multiple positions and business areas including CNC technicians, machinists, quality control specialists, lean technicians, design engineers, compliance analysts, customer service representatives, materials planners, maintenance technicians, finishing operators, and assembly technicians. “Kimber is a great place to work, especially if you love firearms,” said Pedi Gega, director of assembly and product finishing. “We have two indoor gun ranges, one outdoor range, a state-of-the-art design and prototype fabrication center, and a dynamic team of professionals who pride themselves in producing firearms with unmatched attention to detail, design and performance. Every Kimber firearm is created with a unique blend of advanced precision technology and authentic human craftsmanship.” Interested applicants are encouraged to apply at https://www.kimberamerica.com/careers.
