The Pike County Cattlemen’s annual Equipment Auction is set for 8 a.m. Saturday at Cattleman Park on U.S. Highway 231 south of Troy.
“The only difference between this year’s Equipment Auction and all those in the past is that will be cool rather than hot,” said Johnny Garrett, association treasurer.
The Cattlemen’s annual Equipment Auction is usually held in the spring but with the restrictions placed by COVID-19 the auction is being held in November.
“We’ll have the same variety of items up for sale and they’ll go at good prices for both the sellers and the buyers,” Garrett said. “Everybody leaves pleased.”
“This year the equipment auction features a wide variety of farm equipment and implements. On Tuesday, already 22 vehicles were on the grounds, along with boats — including John boats, a canoe and water ski — a huge number of pool chairs from the Troy rec department, lawn mowers, even pots and pans, just about anything you can think of,” Garrett said.
And some things that will be quite a surprise.
“This year we have a 28 x 56-foot mobile home,” Garrett said. “It won’t be on the auction block but sealed bids will be taken.”
“For sale” items will be accepted between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. today and Thursday. No items will be accepted on Friday.
The equipment sale on Saturday will begin at 8 a.m. with two auctions going throughout the sale except at 11 a.m. when the vehicle sale begins. At that time only one auction will be ongoing.
