Weigh-outs for Scale Back Alabama are off to a good start, with seven people losing the minimum 10 pounds.
Christy Hill, program director for Scale Back, said she is optimistic about weigh-outs for the rest of the week.
“I’m looking forward to the rest of the week, and I’m hoping that everyone does well,” Hill said.
“We have only had about eight people come in today, but seven of those eight have lost 10 pounds and that is fantastic. One person even lost 22 pounds in 10 weeks.”
Hill said that the most successful participants are ones that have spent time in the gym.
“The people who have lost the most weight are people that incorporated exercise in with a healthier diet,” Hill said.
“Most people have lost a little bit more than 10 pounds.”
Shelia Sanders, a teacher at Troy Elementary School, said her weight loss success came from a team effort.
“We did this as a team with Troy Elementary. We had a couple of teams at our school, so we competed with one another,” Sanders said.
“We encouraged one another and worked together.”
Sanders said her goal this year is to keep the weight off and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“My goal this year is to keep the weight off and work on maintenance. This program is good because it challenges you to live a healthier lifestyle,” Sanders said.
“This is my second year in the program, and I plan on trying again next year.”
