If the possibility of winning $1,000 isn’t enough to get cooks standing over the hot stove, then sweeten the pot with a brand new kitchen.
Those are the prizes that will be awarded in the Sister Schubert’s On a Roll Recipe Contest that will run through May 31.
The contest is seeking original recipes made with any variety of Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls. The winners will be selected by Patricia “Sister Schubert” Barnes, founder of Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls.
“This is a fantastic contest with fantastic prizes,” said Barnes, a Troy native. “The best overall recipe will win a suite of new Frigidaire Professional Series kitchen appliances, including a side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, range and an over-range microwave. First prize in each of the four contest categories will be $1,000.”
Sister Schubert’s On a Roll Recipe Contest is a nationwide contest and the first 500 entries will receive a dollar-off Internet coupon for any Sister Schubert’s item.”
“We were working on way to entice people to come to our Web site,” Barnes said. “We liked the idea of a recipe contest. Frigidaire donated the appliances as prizes for the contest and I’m very excited that we are offering such great prizes for a contest that encourages creativity in cooking.”
Sister Schubert’s rolls go from the freezer to the table in less than half an hour. Therefore, the contest will be looking for recipes that are easy to prepare so that they encourage families to enjoy a home-cooked meal together.
Entries will be judged on originality, taste appeal, simplicity and appearance and can be entered in one of four categories, breakfast/brunch, anytime snacks, holiday/parties and dinnertime meals.
“I’m excited about the recipe contest and thrilled that I will visit the home of the overall winner and actually make the recipe in the winner’s brand new kitchen,” Barnes said.
Barnes shares her thoughts about cooking, homemaking and creating quality family time on the “Keeping up with Sister” blog, www.sisterschuberts.com/blog.
Her first blog post talks about the heirloom Parkerhouse roll recipe that became the foundation of Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls.
