The Charles Henderson Trojans put four goals in the net before MCA could even mount a comeback Tuesday night.
The Trojans won 5-2 and Lloyd Shillabeer recorded another hat trick with three goals. Shillabeer got the scoring started for Troy in the eighth minute.
“In the first half MCA came out strong, but CHHS was able to not only fend of their offensive tactics, but to take control of the game,” CHHS head coach Olaf Lieb said. “Lloyd Shillabeer aided in that task by scoring an early goal.”
Later in the game the Trojans scored two quick goals to widen the lead to 3-0.
“Michael Salmon delivered on a beautiful counterattack to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead,” Lieb said. “Only two minutes later MCA found themselves off guard when Shillabeer took a long shot off of a dribble placing the ball in the back of the net, to seal a 3-0 lead at halftime.”
Lieb said MCA changed strategy on the Trojans in the second half and Troy took advantage of that.
“Seeing that MCA’s goalie was off their line, Shillabeer took a long lob, scoring his third goal for the evening,” Lieb said. “MCA was then able to answer with one goal, and then Mitch Mobley scored on a penalty kick. MCA scored one more time in the 72nd minute.”
But it was too little, too late and the Trojans walked away with the victory.
The Trojans next game is Mar. 24 when they travel for a section game with Valley.
