A Grady man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a wreck Monday afternoon.

Joseph Fannin, 21 of Grady, was taken into custody by Alabama State Troopers after he was found in a local trailer park and has been charged with driving under the influence, said Trooper Kevin Cook, public information officer.

This comes after Fannin, while driving a 1993 Ford, collided with 25-year-old Jennifer Whitehead, of Troy, on Highway 87 around 4:45 p.m.

Whitehead did not receive any injuries, but her passenger Bradley Harris, 22, of Troy, received minor injuries.

Cook said Fannin took off on foot from the scene of the wreck and was take to the Pike County Jail when officers located him.

Troopers were assisted by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Troy Police.

In another incident Monday, four were transported to Troy Regional Medical Center after a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 231.

According to Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, public information officer for the Troy Police Department, John Luther Blair, of Westville, Fla., was transported by Care Ambulance to Troy Regional Medical Center when his truck collided with another car and flipped over.

Blair was likely turning into the southbound lane near Riverview Drive when the incident occurred, Scarbrough said.

Blair was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 that crashed with a 92 Cadillac driven by Mary Hardimon, of Troy.

Scarbrough said Hardimon was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center by Care, and two other passengers were taken in a private vehicle.

A third passenger was in the incident, but the condition is unknown.

Dawn Broderway, who was driving by the scene of the accident, witnessed the wreck occur.

“When we came around the corner and I saw this car flipping and a truck going up in the air,” Broderway said. “The car went in the ditch and the truck landed upside down on the road. I started screaming to my dad to stop the car. He did but there wasn’t anything that we could do.”

The incident is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
