The Charles Henderson Trojans knocked off the Florala Wildcats 78-53 in the Dothan Turkey Classic Finals on Tuesday, to secure a spot in the December Downtown Hoops Classic in Dothan.

Charles Henderson picked up wins over GW Long and Barbour County heading into the finals, while Florala knocked off Daleville and Wilcox-Center to earn a spot in the finals. 

Charles Henderson started off rocky, trailing 21-15 heading into the second quarter but the Trojans outscored Florala 28-9 in the second quarter. CHHS was sparked by a 17-3 late in the half to take a 43-30 halftime lead. 

The third quarter was more of the same as CHHS outscored Florala 21-8 and took a 64-38 lead into the final frame and ultimately, took the Turkey Classic Championship by a score of 78-53. 

Charles HEnderson was led by Bray Jones and Colby Cross each scoring 15 points, while Jywon Boyd scored 14 points. Rayshon Coleman led Florala with 18 points in the loss. 

The win propels Charles Henderson into the Downtown Hoops Classic Dec. 26-30. It’s the first time CHHS will have appeared in the tournament under head coach Tim Fayson.
