Ole Time Christmas at the Pioneer Museum of Alabama on Friday and Saturday nights will welcome Christmas 2023 to Pike and surrounding counties in a very, merry way.

Barbara Tatom, museum director, said the museum and grounds are already decked out for the holiday season and set the stage for one of the museums most highly anticipate events of the year.

The Pioneer Museum of Alabama celebrates Christmas in much the same way that those who pioneered Pike County celebrated. And, Tatom said a little rain will not dampen the joy of the Christmas Time celebration.

“A lot of people have gone into making Ole Time Christmas 2023 a joyful and memorable experience,” Tatom said.  “Joey Meredith will be at the museum to take photos with Santa and all the money collected will benefit the museum. “So, if the rain comes, we will still celebrate the coming of Christmas.”

Tatom joins the museum staff and the board of directors in showing appreciation to all those who have made Ole Time Christmas 2023 possible.

The Saint Fiacre Garden Club decorated the Demo Cabin and the Pike County Master Gardeners Association decorated the Boy Scout cabin, Tatom said.

“And, Carolyn Newman and the Pike County Master Gardeners decorated the Little Red Schoolhouse so whether it’s rain nor shine, there will be cookie making with Mrs. Clause, members of the American Militia will be on the museum grounds and, hopefully, making s’mores.

There will be other activities for the children and shopping opportunities for the adults, including Pike Pioneer Museums membership, which keep on giving.

Yearly memberships are available for individuals at $25 and family memberships for $60. Tatom said a family members tare for those who live in household and visiting grandchildren or other relatives who live out of state.

The Pioneer Museum of Alabama has a good selection of Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers that keep on giving including new kinds of purses by Mary Chastain, local honey, handmade cotton boll ornaments, Jean Lake note cards, natural soy candles and Christmas books.

Admission to Ole Time Christmas, $10 for adults; $9 for seniors over 60 and military; students, $8; and children under age five are admitted free.
