On Thursday, NOLA.com reported that Troy head football coach Jon Sumrall was interviewed for the open Tulane head coaching job on Wednesday.

According to the report, Sumrall interviewed for the job, while in Birmingham for the Birmingham Bowl press conference. The report also alledges that Tulane intends to announce its next head coach as early as this Friday. Sumrall has been on the road recruiting for Troy this week.

Sumrall has led Troy to a 23-4 record with back-to-back Sun Belt Championships and his Trojans are getting set to become the first Sun Belt Conference team to play a Power 5 school in a bowl game when Troy faces Duke on Dec. 23 in the Birmingham Bowl.
