Area Hoops: Pike Lib drops matchup with Long, Ariton thumps Geneva County

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots lost 56-48 to the GW Long Rebels on Thursday night.
Pike fell behind 15-8 in the first quarter and trailed 27-13 at halftime. Pike outscored the Rebels 35-29 in the second half but it wasn’t enough to overcome Long’s lead.
Will Rice led Pike with 16 points in the loss, while Hudson Hollingshead scored 14 points and Sawyer Keck added 11 points.
The Ariton Purple Cats picked up a 66-40 win over Geneva County on Thursday. Ian Senn scored 24 points in the while, while Addison Senn added 11 points, Lawson Leger scored 10 points and dished six assists. Matt McNair chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds in the win.
The Ariton girls fell 48-45 to Geneva County as Nya Allen scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Macileigh Bragg added eight points and six rebounds in the win.
