On Wednesday, Goshen High School senior Jamauri McClure signed his letter-of-intent to continue his college football career at Tulane University.

McClure is coming off a career season at Goshen, where the senior running back helped lead the Eagles back to the playoffs for the first time since 2019. McClure was dominant at running back, tallying 1,618 yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground along with a receiving touchdown and a kickoff return touchdown. McClure was also a leader on defense.

The 5-10, 190-pound running back is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and chose to sign with Tulane over offers from other schools like Troy, South Alabama, Cincinnati, Purdue, Ole Miss, UAB and more. McClure, who had a stellar junior season, as well, said that he didn’t start getting offers from colleges until last track season, when he earned two state runner-up finishes.

McClure originally committed to South Alabama this summer before de-committing following the high school football season.

“Nothing really happened, I just felt like I decided a little early and I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision for myself,” McClure said of de-committing.

Tulane was one of the first FBS schools to offer McClure a scholarship last summer.

“I just thought it was the right fit for me,” he said of signing with Tulane. “I like the area and I wanted to experience something new and I really like the coaches there.”

The newest face on the Tulane coaching staff is the new head coach, former Troy head coach Jon Sumrall, who McClure said had a big impact on his decision.

“He had a lot to do with it. He was recruiting me early on (at Troy), so when he went there it helped me decide a little easier,” McClure said of Sumrall.

McClure, who said that playing college football is something he’s been dreaming of doing his whole life, is looking to make an early impact at Tulane.

“I want to try to start,” he flatly said. “The coaches said I would have a chance to start but I have to work my way up like everyone else. I’m going to try my best to start and provide my best for the team.”
