New Troy head football coach Gerad Parker continues to fill out his coaching staff with the hiring of new offensive line coach Caleb Carbine and running backs coach Re’quan Boyette.
Carbine comes to Troy after a year as an offensive analyst at Notre Dame, where he served with Parker. Carbine acted as interim tight ends coach for Notre Dame’s bowl game and he is a Troy University graduate that played and started his coaching career at Troy. Boyette spent 10 years as a coach at Duke and two at East Carolina.
Carbine was a two-year starter at center with Troy, helping the Trojans lead the Sun Belt in most offensive categories during his career. He started at Troy as a walk-on. After his playing days ended, Carbine began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Troy in 2016, working with special teams. He worked with Troy’s offensive line in 2017 and 2018.
When Neal Brown took over at West Virginia, Carbine followed and spent three years with the Mountaineers, where he also worked with Parker. In 2022, Carbine joined the staff at North Alabama as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.
Boyette is a North Carolina native that played college football Duke, where he was a running back from 2005 until 2009. After his playing days, Boyette joined the staff at Duke as a graduate assistant in 2012 and then became running backs coach at Duke in 2013.
He spent eight years as running backs coach at Duke before becoming co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach at Duke in 2021. In 2022, he became receivers coach at Eastern Carolina and took over as running backs coach at East Carolina in 2023.
