Area schools compete in hoops action

The Charles Henderson Trojans and Lady Trojans faced off with Carroll High School in Class 5A, Area 4 matchups on Wednesday.
The Lady Trojans led Carroll for much of their contest before the Eagles rallied in the final two minutes to secure a 38-34 win. Kamari Strozier led CHHS with 11 points and Zakandria Scott added 10 points in the loss.
Meanwhile, the CHHS boys team picked up a 59-42 area win over Carroll. Jywon Boyd led the Trojans with 25 points, while Bray Jones chipped in with 10 points in the win.
The Class 2A No. 4-ranked Zion Chapel Rebels lost 55-46 to Highland Home on Wednesday. Slade Grantham led ZCHS with 18 points and Mason Stuart added 10 points in the loss.
The Lady Rebels also fell 57-18 to Highland Home.
On Tuesday night, the Pike Liberal Arts boys fell 73-52 to Luverne. Sawyer Keck led PLAS with 16 points in the loss, while Will Rice added 11 points and Jackson Mitchell scored eight points.
The Pike County Bulldogs picked up a 50-44 win over Daleville on Tuesday night as Jah Burney scored 13 points, Khalil Foster scored 12 points and Michael Walker added nine points.
The Lady Bulldogs fell 39-30 to Daleville after the Lady Hawks outscored the Lady Dawgs 25-11 in the second half. Kynthis Jackson led Pike County with 11 points in the loss.
