After the recent state report card for the 2022-2023 school year was released, a total of 50 Alabama schools have been recognized for their improvement by the state.
A total of 25 schools will receive $2,000 awards, while the other 25 – for being the most improved – will receive an $8,000 award.
Charles Henderson Middle School was ranked in the Top 25 of most improved after seeing their report card jump from a score of 69 in 2022 to 82 in 2023. That jump was tied for the seventh biggest jump in the state. CHMS will receive an $8,000 award for this improvement.
CHMS was one of a number of Wiregrass schools to be recognized, including Dothan City Schools, Elba Elementary, Houston County and Red Level School.
