The Prep Baseball Report released its preseason Top 10 polls for each classification in Alabama this week and both Pike Liberal Arts and Ariton High School cracked the Top 10 in Class 2A.
Ariton, the reigning 2A State Champions, were ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll just behind Vincent High School at No. 1. The Purple Cats won their first State Championship in school history last season under interim coach Bob Pickett, who now serves as the permanent head coach. The Purple Cats return veteran leaders like All-State athlete Caden Collier.
Pike Lib fell to Ariton in the playoffs last season but won four state championships in the AISA between 2018 and 2022. The Patriots are ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll behind G.W. Long at No. 3. Pike Lib returns a slew of veterans including All-State catcher John Lott.
The 2A Top 10 is rounded out by Donoho, Tuscaloosa Academy, Mars Hill Bible, Whitesburg Christian, Bayshore Christian and Lindsay Lane Christian.
