The community of Troy is invited to an artist’s reception from 5 until 7p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Center for the Arts honoring Zdenka Kritic.
Andrea Pack, JCA director, said the reception is a time to meet the artist and other art lovers from around Troy, and see the new body of work by Alabama Fellowship Artist Zdenka Kritić, who is a practicing Croatian American visual artist whose creative agenda centers on a dynamic idea of history; one that is always mutable and reflective of subjective and infinite narrative potentials.
In addition to focusing on drawing and painting, watercolor, gouache, and encaustic – as his primary mediums, the artist’s interests extend to explorations of various forms of alternative analog and digital photographic processes – most notably, scanography and projector photography.
A graduate of Zagreb University in Croatia, and the University of Cincinnati, the artist maintains his studio in Alabama where he had taught studio art at Auburn University for many years.
Krtić has received numerous grants and awards, including the Alabama State Council on the Arts Fellowship and an Excellence in Research Award from Auburn University. His work has been commissioned by CNN network as part of their two special editorial features: 911- Ten Years After and Power.
