Area Softball: Pike Lib beats Highland Home, ZCHS tops Goshen

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots (6-6) throttled Highland Home by a score of 17-1 on Thursday in three innings.
Addie Maulden, Mileigh Long and Shelly Stephens scored three runs each, while Mary Stephens and Joy Schwarte scored two runs. Mary Brown and Mary Stephens each hit a double. Shelly Stephens struck out four batters and gave up one hit and no earned runs in two innings pitched.
The Class 2A No. 3-ranked Zion Chapel Lady Rebels (18-2) defeated the Goshen Lady Eagles on Thursday by a score of 22-6.
The Lady Rebels hit four home runs as a team in the win. Amber Kidd went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, two RBIs and three runs, while Madison Meeks went 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs and three runs. Sydney Boothe and Kennedy Hussey also belted home runs in the win, while A. Bassett scored four runs and Shea Wambles scored three. Riley Bannin struck out five batters and gave up no hits or earned runs in two and 1/3 innings pitched.
For Goshen, Amber Vickers scored two runs, while Macie McAliley, Jayci Rushing, Alyssa Pippins and Emalie Tranum scored one run each. Rushing pitched two innings and struck out one batter.
The Ariton Lady Purple Cats (10-8) bested Abbeville by a score of 21-1 on Thursday. Beth Dixon hit a home run and scored three runs, while Caitlyn Webb and Reese Peters scored three runs each. LIzzy Faircloth, Brianna Acahua, Macileigh Bragg and Nya Allen scored two runs.
Faircloth pitched three innings and fanned seven batters, while giving up one hit and one earned run.
