On Monday, April 1, the Pike Liberal Arts golf team hosted a number of schools from the area in a golf tournament at Troy Country Club.
The Pike Lib boys shot 294 in the tournament, which head coach Gene Allen said was one of the best the team has shot “in years”. That still wasn’t good enough, however, as Montgomery Academy came in first place with a score of 293 just barely edging out Pike Lib. Previously, Pike Lib knocked off Montgomery Academy in Montgomery on March 7.
Braden Prestwood was the medalist for the tournament, shooting 66, while Jackson Cleveland shot a 78, Sawyer Keck shot 74, Ford Hussey shot 76 and Bryant Swindall shot 79.
Charles Henderson’s boys team finished the day shooting a 394 with Parker Knick shooting an 85. Hayden Adamson shot 87, while William Walker shot 106 and Carter Rhodes shot 116.
Montgomery Academy’s top golf was Jackson McIntyre with a 71. St. James and Straughn’s A-Team both shot 332, while Straungh’s B-team shot 405 and Pleasant Home shot 408. Eufaula shot 345, Dothan shot 330 and Kinston shot 397.
In individual action, Pike’s Carter Nelson shot an 84.
The Pike Lib girls golf team finished first on the day in girls action with Avery Greene being the medalist, shooting a 97.
