The Troy Trojans (19-11) hit the road on Tuesday and picked up a 14-3 win over the Alabama State Hornets in seven innings.
The Trojans were hot at the plate as a team with three home runs on the night. Tremayne Cobb Jr. led the way, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs. Kole Myers went 2-for-2 with a homer, three RBIs and three runs, while Kyle Mock went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Aidan Gilroy also went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs. Brooks Bryan and Will Butcher both hit home runs, as well.
Grayson Stewart earned his first win on the mound, striking out a pair of batters and giving up no hits or runs in two and 2/3 innings pitched, while Jay Dill struck out three batters and gave up two hits and two earned runs in three and 1/3 innings on the mound. Defensively, the Trojans broke an eight game streak by having no errors on the day.
“All of the phases of the game were good. Offensively, everyone will remember the home runs a little more, but Trey had a bunch of good at-bats, Kole on base five times, I thought across the board a lot of good offensively,” Troy coach Skylar Meade said. “The pitchers attacked the zone for the most part, Dill calibrated in and gave us a solid effort and Stew was really good.”
Randy Flores, Christian Lopez and Devin Chandler each hit home runs for ASU. Devin Brooks earned his first loss on the mound, striking out two batters and giving up two hits and three earned runs in two innings pitched for the Hornets.
Troy travels to Jacksonville State Wednesday night.
