Blue Sunday is always the last Sunday in April and it is a day of praying for abused children.
Kayley Green, director of the Troy-Pike Child Advocacy Center, said Blue Sunday is a day when churches take time in their services to pray for the victims of child abuse and for those who rescue them.
Green said churches of all denominations pray for abused children because they shouldn’t have to pray alone.
“The Bible says whoever receives one little child l also receives me,” Green said. And, the numbers of child abuse are astounding. There are more than three million confirmed cases of child abuse in “our” nation annually. Of the 1,640 child deaths from child abuse, most were under the age of three.
Each church can make a difference and it starts by praying.
Green said each church is encouraged to take time in its service on the last Sunday, the last Sunday in April to pray, for the victims of child abuse and for those who rescue them.
“All churches are encouraged to join in this life-changing effort on Blue Sunday Day of Prayer,” she said.
