The Vine Church in Troy was the site of a community baby shower on Sunday, April 21, in support of SAV-A-LIFE TROY for the great work that it is being done throughout the Troy/Pike County community to serve women, men and families that find themselves with an unplanned or crisis situation.
“It is our belief that all families should have access to essential help when bringing new life into the world,” Karla Johnson, Vine Church said. “The community baby shower was a way to reach out to young mothers in achieving our goal.”
Johnson said 70 women were served and, in the future, the desire is to venture out with churches in the local area that want to be a part of organized community service projects.
The community baby shower was in support of SAV-A-LIFE with donations of baby items, gift cards and a check donation.
Johnson said SAV-A-Life offers encouragement for mothers to keep their babies and support for those who make that choice. SAV-A-Life also offers classes for moms and dads that will better equip them for parenthood.
Jane Ward, executive director, SAV-A-LIFE TROY, said it is an amazing how the local community came together to honor and bless mothers, motherhood and families.
“It was such as endearing and positive experience. And, that it happened show that SAV-A-LIFE is not a secret in Pike County,” Ward said. “We receive tremendous support from non-profits and people within the community. The community baby shower was an uplifting event for all who attended.”
Ward received roses in appreciation for her commitment to SAV-A-LIFE-Troy. She accepted on behalf of her amazing staff and volunteers.
Last year SAV-A-LIFE TROY administered 1,797 services including pregnancy tests, ultra sounds and shopping experiences for moms-to-be and fathers as well. SAV-A-LIFE also offers counseling and educational support.
