The annual Bible Reading Marathon began at 8 a.m. Monday at the gazebo on Troy’s downtown square with the words: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth…”
The 2024 Bible Reading Marathon will conclude at noon on Thursday, May 2, the National Day of Prayer.
Linda Adams, Salem-Troy Baptist Association, said the Bible Reading Marathon is held annually with the assurance that God’s Word will not return void.
Churches throughout the area, and all believers in God’s Word, are invited to read from God’s Work or to come and hear His word read aloud.
Adams said reader participation has been very supportive, however, there are continuing opportunities to read.
Readers are invited to read in 15-minute time blocks.
“However, there are those who want to read longer,” Adams said. “There are churches, organizations, clubs, neighborhoods and families that read several blocks of time. We appreciation everyone who reads God’s word.
Those who wish to read are invited to sign up at the tent next to the Gazebo or call 566-1538.
The Bible Marathon is not just about reading the Bible, it’s also about hearing the Bible read in an open setting. Both are blessings, Adams said.
