On Monday, Troy University Athletics announced the addition of Southeastern Louisiana University to the 2027 football schedule.
Troy will play Southeastern Louisiana in the season opener of the 2027 football season on Sept. 4, 2027. It will be the 20th time Troy has played the FCS opponent but the two sides have not played since 2003. It will also be just the second time that the two teams have played since Troy’s move to FBS.
While Troy won the last matchup, 28-0 in 2003, Southeastern Louisiana actually holds the series lead 8-11 overall. Troy and Southeast Louisiana met annually from 1970 through 1983, with Troy going 7-7 in those 14 games. The two sides did not meet again after the 1983 game – a 34-15 Southeastern Louisiana win – until they played in 2003.
The Southeastern Louisiana game is the second matchup announced for the 2027 season. The Trojans previously announced that they would play Mississippi State at home on Sept. 18, 2027. That will be the first time that Troy has played MSU since 2015 and only the second time the Bulldogs have traveled to Troy, after playing there in 2012.
The Trojans continue to fill out their future out-of-conference schedules. Troy will play Nevada, Memphis, Iowa and Florida A&M in non-conference games in 2024. The Trojans have already filled out three non-conference games in 2025 and 2026. In 2025, Troy will play at home against Memphis and Nicholls State and travel to Clemson. In 2026, Troy will host Sam Houston State and travel to Mississippi State and Missouri. Troy also has 2028 matchups with North Carolina State, UAB and Clemson announced.
