Oak Grove’s 50th Homecoming is set for 11 a.m. Sunday, May 19, at Oak Grove Methodist Church on Oak Grove Road, Troy.
All who have a personal history in Oak Grove Methodist Church or those who are interested in the history of the church are invited.
Deborah Huggins-Davis said Oak Grove Methodist Church’s 50th Homecoming might be misleading for those familiar with Oak Grove
“Oak Grove Methodist Church is actually much older but this will be the 50th year for a home coming celebration,” Huggins-Davis said.
The Rev. Jon Drisko is the present minister. He was recently ordained at the Global Methodist Church Conference in Niceville, Florida.
The Rev. Joel Warren will be the guest speaker at Oak Grove’s 50th Homecoming.
Oak Grove Methodist, a small wooden structure, is nestled among majestic oaks along a quiet country road.
The church sits on one-and-a half acres and was deeded in 1885, by Evan Lee and Charlotte E. Lee (Donald Lee). The church sanctuary was constructed shortly after. Records show the church was destroyed by a tornado but rebuilt by local folks.
Everyone with a history or interest in historic Oak Grove Methodist Church is invited to attend.
