Troy University Athletics announced the completion of the 2026 football out-of-conference schedule on Friday with the addition of Alabama State University to the slate of games.
Troy will face off against Alabama State on Sept. 12, 2026 at “The Vet.” Troy’s other out-of-conference games in 2026 include a home game with Sam Houston State and road matchups with the SEC’s Missouri and Mississippi State.
This will be the first time that Troy and Alabama State have played in football since a 34-7 Trojan win in 2017. That game drew a then-record attendance of 29,278 at Veterans Memorial Stadium, which still ranks as the third biggest crowd in the stadium’s history.
Troy and Alabama State have faced off a total of 16 times in the past with the Trojans holding a 14-2 record in that series. The 2017 game and a 38-0 win in 2006 are the only times the two schools have met since Troy’s move to FBS. Troy has not lost to Alabama State since 1991 and are on an 11-game winning streak against the Hornets.
Also on Thursday, Troy added the addition of West Georgia to the 2028 schedule, completing that schedule, as well. Troy will host North Carolina State and West Georgia in 2028 and will travel to UAB and Clemson. This week Troy has announced the completion of out-of-conference schedules for 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 schedules.
